Google often treats the world to an array of shiny new features which excite many marketers and businesses and are instantly adopted as part of ‘business as usual’ in marketing departments across the land. One of their most recent developments is ‘Posts on Google’ which is an easy one for those of you without marketing departments to engage with, too.
Posts on Google is a new way for businesses to showcase certain elements of their business through your Google My Business listing. Implementing a Google post enhances the look of your Google My Business listing in search as well as affording you the opportunity to attract your audience by having a direct link to your intended destination for the user alongside an image of your choosing.
For now, there are four main options for your post:
- What’s new (announcement)
In the example within this article, you can see we’ve added a ‘What’s new’ post to our listing, covering our work with the British Heart Foundation.
Each of the four new post options has its own way for you to highlight key areas of your business. Among those could be promoting a new product, a blog post or upcoming event.
A standard post lasts for 7 days and you are able to have more than one at a time. When multiple posts are created, your audience will be able to scroll through them. The events post allows you to set your own custom date range so it can appear for longer than 7 days depending on the timing of your event.
Behind the scenes you will be able to track the effectiveness of your post with built in insights, which is the analytics tool for posts. These insights are key to understanding your audience. Continuously updating your Google post will help your listing stay fresh, appear in search and convert new clients from prospective clients.
The best part about utilising the new feature is that it’s free! All you need to have to get started is a verified Google My Business listing.
